Imphal, Aug. 2: Civil society and students’ body including Kanglamei, Chanura Lamjinglen Kangleipak and Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) today lauded the Samaritan service of the JNIMS director, L Deven at which he treated 18 patients who had been ailing with different diseases at free of cost at JNIMS.
During a press meet held today the office of the CLK office Keishampat Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai, President of Kanglamei, Y Leirik Leima said that Dr. Deven, Director of JNIMS has made the people believed that Doctors in government hospitals are for the service of the poor people too.
Of the 18 patients who were treated at free of cost at JNIMS 8 has been discharged and many are improving. Most of the patients were kept bed ridden for a prolong period as family members were in no position to provide them medical treatment. However, after such poor patients were highlighted through media, Dr. Deven taking the matter seriously personally and brought them to JNIMS hospital where he provide free treatment.
Before Dr. Deven assumed charge as Director people do not know that there is a government package at which poor people who cannot afford medical expenses could be treated.
“Dr. Deven is now the hope of the people and we expect more doctors like Dr. Deven”, said Y Leirik President of Kanglamei.
She further appealed all sections of the society to encourage the doctor while providing service to the poor. She also appealed civil bodies or any groups not to disturb the smooth functioning of the hospital.
