Churachandpur dist. to be changed as Lamka dist.

Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur (ADCC) had taken dicision to change the name of Churachandur district to Lamka district. In an interaction with IMPHAL TIMES,  Chairman of ADCC, Langkhanpau Guite said that the draft resolution for changing the name of Churachandpur  to Lamka district was adopted after the members of the ADCC has passed a resolution during a sitting.
The matter for changing the name of Churachandpur district to Lamka district is likely to be approved by the state cabinet. Source said that the state cabinet has already approved proposal for changing of the Mao town into another name during a sitting held recently.

I think the manipur govt. Should study the past history in details and give the appropriate name for churachandpur. It was never name as lamka but as Songpi, sub division. I think it has already made a mistake by giving the paite dilect to be link language in churachandpur town instead of thadou dialect who are the single majority and again wanting to change the name of chirachsndpur in their infavour . I think this is not fair it will be protest tooth and nail.
