Chankorb Pvt. Ltd. launches innovative Banana Fiber products

The first product launching event of Chankorb Pvt Ltd was held today at Hotel Imphal, North AOC. The event marked the introduction of innovative eco-friendly products made from banana fiber, aiming to promote sustainability and economic growth in the region.
Director of Tourism, Pooja Elangbam, IAS, attended the function as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the significance of the company’s initiative in utilizing banana fiber for creating sustainable and biodegradable products. She expressed confidence that these innovations would benefit both local and global markets while receiving widespread support.
She emphasized that the production of items from banana fiber is an innovative approach, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic materials. The use of naturally available banana plants for crafting biodegradable products, such as packaging materials, not only opens new economic avenues but also contributes to environmental conservation.
Pooja further stressed the importance of research on indigenous plant-based materials to develop new products. She also underlined the necessity of securing patents for such innovations to prevent unauthorized claims. She assured that the company is committed to maintaining high-quality standards to ensure consumer satisfaction.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Atom Anupama, Proprietor of Chankorb Pvt Ltd, elaborated on the potential of banana fiber, which is often discarded as waste. She explained how these fibers can be processed into threads and utilized for various handloom and handicraft products. This innovation presents a new opportunity to enhance both environmental and economic sustainability.
She further noted that banana fiber is a viable alternative to plastic, as it can be used to manufacture biodegradable items such as disposable cups and plates. Industries focusing on handloom, handicrafts, and eco-friendly product manufacturing are increasingly adopting banana fiber as a sustainable material.
The event was presided over by Neeta Arambam, Joint Director of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur, and Prof. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Manipur University. The launch marks a significant step towards promoting sustainable and innovative industries in Manipur.
