In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has lodged a chargesheet against nine individuals implicated in the killing of a 55-year-old Naga woman. This incident occurred on July 15 at Keibi. The CBI filed this chargesheet before a specialized court located in Guwahati, holding these accused individuals accountable for their alleged involvement in committing this crime. This case initially was registered at Imphal East’s Lamlai police station but was later transferred to the CBI upon request from the Manipur government.
According to reports, it is believed that around noon on July 15, 2023, a mob numbering approximately one hundred people comprising armed miscreants forcibly held captive and abducted the female victim near Sawombung Gate. Subsequently, her lifeless body was discovered later that same day.
As investigations continue into this distressing incident, law enforcement agencies remain committed to identifying any additional culprits involved in perpetrating such an egregious act of violence.
