A book release event for “Ethnicity and Geopolitics: Ramifications on Northeast”, published by National Research Centre(NRC), Manipur, was held at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University today. The event was organized by the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) and was attended by Dr. Arambam Noni, Dr. Suraj Mandal, historian Dr. Ratan Lal from Hindu College, Dr. Seram Rojesh, Convenor of DMCC, and Sangeeta Keisam, Spokesperson for DMCC.
During the program, Dr. Suraj Mandal expressed his dissatisfaction with the ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur, drawing attention to the power politics involving multinational corporations and their alliance with regional powers. He highlighted the prolonged nature of the conflict and stressed the importance of envisioning a plural, multi-ethnic state in Manipur.
Historian Dr. Ratan Lal highlighted the significance of the book in fostering a better understanding of Northeast India, stating that the marginalization of the region in the mainland’s educational system is a structural issue.
Dr. Seram Rojesh reflected on the ongoing division and violence in Manipur, underscoring the importance of the book, co-edited by Dr. Arambam Noni and Dr. Sapam Dilip, as a crucial step toward finding a path forward for the state.
