Jiribam, Oct 18:
In a shocking incident in Jiribam district, the Blooming Flower Children Foundation School, a well-known private high school, was set ablaze in the early hours of the morning. The fire, which broke out around 3:30 AM, destroyed a significant portion of the school premises located in Kalinagar Part 2, just 1 kilometer from the Jiribam district headquarters.
Local authorities reported that fire tenders arrived promptly at the scene to extinguish the flames, but the damage had already been done.
As per official report seven rooms, including school materials stored inside, were destroyed in the blaze. Fortunately, fire service teams arrived promptly and managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread further.
This incident comes on the heels of heightened tensions in the region, as the school had been closed since the beginning of the 2024 academic session due to ongoing ethnic violence in Jiribam district. The closure of the school has had a detrimental impact on the education of many children , who were left without a stable learning environment.
The Blooming Flower Children Foundation School, founded and owned by Benjamin Sukum, has long been a pillar of the school, providing quality education to students from various backgrounds. The destruction of the school raises urgent questions about the safety of educational institutions in the area and the need for more robust protective measures.
The cause of the fire is still not known.
