NH 37 Imphal Jiribam portion ,which is life line of Manipur ,remains in pathetic condition inspite of one & half decade long congress regime in Manipur of which congress rule at the centre for one decade (2002-2014).
The irony is that the Ibobi led congress spends huge some of money under different head of accounts like ACA,SPA,NLCPR,CRF,NEC,12th & 13th Finsnce Commission Award,state plan etc to upgrade and maintain the national highways,Imphal to Pallel portion at international standard whereas the other important roads like Imphal -Jiribam ,Imphal -Dimapur ,Imphal -Ukhrul ,Imphal -Moreh, Pallel-Chandel Imphal -CCpur via Moirang etc are pathetic
Prime minister Narendra Modi realizing the importance of Imphal Jiribam Highways announced that this upgradation of Imphal Jiri highway would initiated over a period of 100 days .
Since congress govt is very in place in Manipur, the state govt should have taken initiative to get the highway upgraded with assistance from the central govt .
In Short, it is primary responsibility of congress govt in Manipur to set ball rolling ,particularly in dealing with a critical projects like Imphal -Jiribam national highway which is lifeline of Manipur ,although the onus of providing assistance lies with the central government.
The question is why and how the congress govt in Manipur has failed to make any genuine effort to sustain or maintain such life line of Manipur over the last 14 & half years of governance in Manipur. The present condition of highway in question simply demonstrates the reductants as well as inability of congress govt to make the Imphal Jiribam highway in all weather road .
The worse part of the story is neither Chief Minister nor Dy CM of Manipur had ever travel on this important national highway over the last 14 years ,despite the untold miseries of the people and huge & cry from different quarter of the civil society . The way one Ranjit try to throw the blame on BJP is quite misleading and simply out of place .
It would be worthwhile to place on record that BJP govt at the centre under Prime Minister Shri Modi Ji has already set up an Empower Committee on Connectivity under DoNER with a focus on removing the communication and transportation bottleneck in the intire North East Region in the time bound manner in deed an unprecedented NER Centric initiative of BJP govt at Delhi over and above ,Dr Jitendra Honb’le Union Minister DoNER has been assigned special responsibilities to oversee the connectivity infrastructure projects in the region .
It is pleasure of BJP Manipur Pradesh to inform the concerned people of Manipur that the process of implementation of up gradation of Highways in Manipur particularly Imphal Jiri ,Imphal Moreh & Imphal Dimapur portion is already underway and it’s the commitment of the BJP govt in Delhi to complete the task in time bound manner . The Union Ministry of Surface Transport & Highways is revising the process regularly .
