IT Exclusive
Imphal, Oct 12: Even as the president of BJP Manipur Pradesh had stated that the party has no plan to announce Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, central leaders are now of the opinion that announcing a Chief Ministerial candidate will make the party stronger in challenging the Okram Ibobi’s party.
A highly reliable source said that the name of the Chief Ministerial candidate may be announced on Oct 16 and it is likely that the party will pick someone who has been loyal and dedicated to the BJP. Family background is also likely to be criteria for choosing the Chief Ministerial candidate.
The source further added for the state of Manipur the Central BJP leader will announce the 2nd leader who will assist the Chief Ministerial candidate. The 2nd in command will be from among new entry who had long experience in tackling the present political issue haunting the state.
But the source did not reveal the name of either the two persons as the party need to prepare some more strategy.
