Awareness programme on Juvenile Justice and Child Marriage Prohibition held

A one-day awareness cum sensitization programme on the Juvenile Justice System and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, was held today at Wabagai Higher Secondary School for teachers of Kakching district.
The event was organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kakching, under Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with the District Administration, Kakching.
Mayengbam Bhorot, Principal, Wabagai Higher Secondary School, Darngam Khaling, Member Secretary of the Child Welfare Committee, Tengnoupal, and M Robindro, Legal cum Probation Officer of DCPU Kakching, attended the programme.
As resource persons, Darngam Khaling spoke on the Juvenile Justice System, while M Robindro addressed the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Both speakers also interacted with the participants and responded to questions raised by the attending teachers.
The programme commenced with a keynote address delivered by Gajoo Rajkumari, District Child Protection Officer, DCPU Kakching, who outlined the objectives and core theme of the initiative.
