4 days Residential Camp cum Awarneness Programme of Indigenous People’s Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) begins today at Kwakeithel Mission Compund, Nongshaba (BTI) under the theme of “Save Paddy Land” “Save Indigenous people”.
President of IPAK Sapamcha Jadumani said that state covers an area of 22,327 square kilometers in which valley cover only 10 percent. In valley area only 3 percent has been used as paddy land which provides food for the state. He further said that it is necessary to guard our paddy land form converting it into school, college, and brick Field factory.
He further added that state government has failed to preserved or protect paddy field under Manipur Conservation of Paddy land and Wetland Act, 2014 which was implemented by the state government.
The Residential Camp cum Awarneness Programme will cover Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Thoubal.
Noted social activist Yumnamcha Dilip who also attended the inuagural function as dignitary on the dais while speaking on the occasion calls the people to jointly fight against illegal occupation of cultivable land in the name of development by either government or private party.
