Imphal, July 12:

PRO Assam Rifles has refuted media reports about the involvement of Myanmarese National in the Manipur crisis.
A statement of the PRO Assam Rifles said that numerous posts of a ‘purported leaked document’ of casualties of Myanmar nationals being treated in India are being spread. A total of 16 people (including 08 Indian nationals who were essentially the drivers or passengers, 01 Myanmarese translators, and 07 Myanmarese injured civilians, reportedly from violence in their own country) were intercepted by Assam Rifles on 15, 16 & 21 Jun 2023 in Yangoubung, Chandel district.
The statement by the PRO Assam Rifles said that in accordance with existing standard operating procedures, the case was informed to the dist. Police for further follow-up thereafter.
“Narrative of these foreign nationals’ involvement in ongoing Manipur violence is fake and is being initiated, yet again, for vested interests by inimical elements”, the PRO Assam Rifles statement said.
