Imphal, Oct 21:

In a continued effort to support the welfare of local communities, the Assam Rifles extended vital assistance to the villagers of Kwatha. On October 19, 2024, they provided secure transportation for 16 residents, including school-going children and a senior citizen in urgent need of medical attention, from Kwatha to Pallel and back. The transportation was conducted in protected vehicles, with the senior citizen receiving ambulance support to ensure timely access to healthcare. This initiative has been crucial in helping the village cope with ongoing challenges, allowing safe travel for education and medical needs.
Since the onset of recent tensions, Assam Rifles has been a reliable presence in Kwatha, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. Village secretary T. Sanjoy Singh praised the Assam Rifles for their multifaceted support to the village, highlighting their role in fostering stability and providing critical services during difficult times.
In a separate humanitarian effort, the Assam Rifles organized a comprehensive medical camp at the Oinam Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Relief Camp in Bishnupur district, Manipur. The camp provided essential medical services to 423 individuals, including elderly citizens, women, and children. Teachers and students from Oinam Degree College and local schools also actively participated, reflecting the community’s commitment to improving overall health and well-being.
The medical camp featured specialists in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and Orthopaedics, alongside senior medical officers from the Assam Rifles. These professionals offered free consultations and treatments, including specialized services such as sugar tests for individuals over 45 years of age, with 102 people undergoing screening. The availability of ENT and Orthopaedic specialists was particularly appreciated due to the scarcity of such services in the region.
The camp was organized to address the immediate healthcare needs of both camp residents and villagers, offering a range of medical services that provided significant relief to the local populace. The initiative was met with deep gratitude from the Principal of Oinam Degree College, local civil society organizations, youth clubs, and residents. They expressed their appreciation for the positive impact on community health and urged for the continuation of such camps to help those with limited access to costly treatments.
This initiative is part of the Assam Rifles’ broader mission to promote peace, stability, and harmony in the region. By providing direct support to those in need, the Assam Rifles continue to play a key role in fostering goodwill within the community. The successful execution of the medical camp underscores their commitment to humanitarian efforts, helping to improve the living conditions of displaced individuals affected by the ongoing conflict.
