Assam Rifles celebrates Shangshak Day

To pay homage to the war heroes of Second World War who made supreme sacrifice for the motherland against invading Japanese Forces, 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a wreath laying ceremony at Shangshak war memorial. The Battle of Shangshak epitomizes Civil-military cooperation in case of adversity. Besides the soldiers numerous civilians also laid down their life in the battle and their names are engraved on the war memorial. The ceremony was attended by many civil and Assam Rifles dignitaries including nearby villagers to remember the history which gave shape to the fall of Japanese attacking Forces. Wreaths were presented on behalf of IGAR (South).
