The event, themed “Wiping Every Tear From Every Eye,” was part of the golden jubilee celebrations of AMWJU.
The health camp took place at the Manipur Press Club today. It aimed to address the healthcare issues faced by media professionals, providing them with essential medical services free of charge. Facilities available at the camp included medicine, gynecology, dental care, eye care, blood sugar testing, and screenings for hypertension and blood pressure.
Salam Prasanta Singh, Managing Trustee of the Sangai Trust Foundation, emphasized the significance of the event. “The AMWJU is celebrating its 50th golden jubilee. Media persons often face healthcare issues due to their demanding profession. This health camp has been organized to help them by providing comprehensive medical services,” he stated.
In a parallel event, Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat, has donated a collection of books and documents on Manipur to the media resource centre. Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Satyabratta handed over the books to the officials of AMWJU. Anusuiya Uikey inaugurated a new resource centre dedicated to helping journalists research and study the idea of Manipur.
The resource centre, designed specifically for media persons, provides a wealth of materials and resources to support in-depth research and understanding of Manipur’s rich cultural, political, and historical landscape.
Bijoy Kakchingtabam, President of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), said that “We recognized that the Assembly Secretariat has a lot of valuable materials on the theme of Manipur. Therefore, we requested the Speaker of the Assembly to donate books for the resource centre, and they have graciously contributed.” AMWJU appreciates this generous effort by the state assembly secretariat,” he added.
