AMWJU and EGM exempt flood and emergency services from news boycott

In light of the ongoing flood crisis in Manipur, media organizations in the state have decided to temporarily lift their boycott of government-related news for issues concerning emergency services and disaster response.
The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and the Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) announced on Friday that journalists will now begin covering developments related to flood relief and other natural calamities in the interest of public welfare.
Although a full general body meeting could not be convened due to time constraints, the two bodies said the decision was reached after consulting their members. They stated that while the broader media blackout on news related to the Governor, government authorities, and security forces remains in effect, exceptions will now be made for reports concerning urgent public services during natural disasters.
