AMUCO-MSF joint team delivers medical aid to flood-hit families

Volunteers of the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) and the Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) continued their flood-relief drive today, providing medicines and basic healthcare to evacuees housed in relief camps across Wangkhei.
The joint medical unit first visited the Wangkhei Ayangpalli Diamond Club and the Wangkhei Ayangpalli Leimakeithel Apunba Lup, where displaced residents have taken shelter. Doctors and paramedics examined patients, dispensed common drugs and mosquito-repellent ointment, and counselled families on hygiene as stagnant floodwater persists in the locality.
Later in the day, the team moved to the Wangkhei Keithel Shangbi relief centre, which is currently accommodating about 70 people. Fresh supplies of essential medicines were handed over there through members of Naharol Sintha Kanglup (NSK), the local club coordinating camp management.
The operation was led by AMUCO Vice-President Dr Norendro Thokchom, Secretary-General Pratap Leisangthem and Secretary (Publicity) Heishnam Phoren. They were joined by MSF volunteers and supported logistically by the All Manipur Chemist and Druggist Association, which provided most of the pharmaceuticals distributed today.
Representatives of the Wangkhei Ayangpalli Diamond Club, the Wangkhei Ayangpalli Leimakeithel Apunba Lup and NSK expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that prompt medical attention is helping prevent water-borne diseases among flood victims.
AMUCO and MSF said their joint rescue and medical teams will continue to rotate through relief centres in the coming days as water levels slowly recede, an AMUCO representative stated.
