Imphal, April 22:

The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) and Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) are set to jointly pay tribute to the fallen heroes of Manipur on April 23 at the martyrdom site at Cheiraoching. As part of the annual commemoration, a memorial service will be held at the Cheiraoching Martyrs’ Memorial in Thangmeiband on April 23, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM. The event will be observed under the theme “1891 Manipur’s National War Remembrance Day – 23rd April, 2025.”
The occasion will honour the brave souls who sacrificed their lives during the historic 1891 war, when Manipuris, led by courageous Meitei warriors, fought valiantly against British forces at various fronts, including the decisive battle at Khongjom, in defense of their homeland.
The resistance shown by the Manipuri forefathers during the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 continues to serve as a powerful symbol of patriotism and unity. Their courage and sacrifice have left a lasting legacy, inspiring the current generation to safeguard the land, identity, and dignity of Manipur.
AMUCO and TUC have invited the public to join in the tribute, where floral offerings will be made, and commemorative activities will take place, as a symbol of shared reflection and unity.
