Amar Chitra Katha apologizes portraying of Paona Brajabasi as a Tribal leader

Executive Editor of Amar Chitra Katha, Reena I. Puri has apologized for the portrayal of Paona Brajabasi as a Tribal leader of the Indian Freedom struggle in their comic.
In a letter sent to the convenor of the JSCC (Joint Student Coordinating Committee) Manipur the Executive Editor wrote, “Amar Chitra Katha regrets the use of the story of Manipuri warrior, Paona Brajabasi, in their collection Tribal Leaders of the Freedom Struggle, published in association with the Ministry of Culture, as part of the activities to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The name of this warrior was inadvertently placed on the list of tribal warriors.
We have removed the story from the collection and apologize for any distress caused to the Manipuri people”.
Mentioned may be made that the student body while denouncing the portrayal of Paona Brajabashi as a Tribal leader freedom fighter of India in their comic book and burnt the copy of the comic book while boycotting the comic book.
