Imphal, July 22:
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Manipur expressed strong condemnation to the heinous crime against 2 women in Manipur that surfaced through a video that went viral.
A statement said that the inhuman act of stripping the women and parading naked in front of a crowd cannot be accepted by any means in any civilized society.
The ABVP demanded the arrest and trial of all the culprits involved at the earliest as per the law and set an example so that such an act be not repeated anywhere in the future. The ABVP Manipur also urged the government to act on all the other cases that have been filed during this conflict and justice be delivered irrespective of their community.
“The governments both at the centre and the state to intervene in the ongoing conflict in Manipur to restore peace and bring normalcy at the earliest. We believe that violence is no option and peaceful and democratic means of dialogue is the only means to bring peace in the long run. Misunderstandings and difference of opinion is normal in a family or in a society but differences can be solved only when we sit and talk. Now that the Hon. Prime Minister has also stepped in, we hope that the crisis will come to a peaceful end and we will get to see the old Manipur in its full glory. We pray everyone to be patient and work together to bring back peace,” Rk Rabichandra Singh, Secretary ABVP Manipur said.
