With the current trend of education system in the state, it won’t be too much to say that the students of the state are deprived of quality education. And who makes it happen would be difficult to describe. Let’s do some mathematic, out of 365 days subtract all the Sundays, national holidays, repeated state holidays since the state follows twos tradition and some days for bandh, general strike, class boycott, cease work, etc. The remaining days are not even enough for the students to get their syllabus completed and how can they get proper knowledge of education. Also, students of the state do not find time for their education; students prefer to Google an answer on internet than to go to a library. If calculated the amount of time the youth spend on internet, Thomas Alva Edison could have created another miraculous machine with that time. Parents encourage their children to go for extra tuition but do not bother checking if their children are really studying. The worst part is that the students become a tool for conducting agitations. Not so long ago students of many colleges were thrashed by police personnel while protesting for implementation of ILP system in the state. What led the students march on street? Who would take responsibility for the student’s loss of time in study? Just recently, teachers of many colleges went on cease work strike for a month with a list of demands against the government. But who gets affected because of their cease work is the students. And again the students showcase their rage by damaging college properties. Thus one issue gets shifted to other and at the end students gets defeated by the precious time. At the end, quality gets shifted to quantity education.
In this fast growing world, only talented students are getting big opportunities; many have reached Mars. How can the students of Manipur keep pace with the students of other states or compete internationally? Many children in other countries like Afghanistan and Iraq are deprived of education because there aren’t any education systems there at all, but here in Manipur, in spite of having institutions, pity that the students do not get proper education. But who is to be blamed.
