Once there was a little girl called Priya who lived with her father who was always busy with his business. Her mother died when she was very small. As her dad was always busy with his work, Priya had to do all her home work alone and was looked after by a nanny. She hardly had any friends in school. Priya didn’t like talking to others much but she talked alone and everyone in the school believed she was mentally ill.
Once, her father received a call from the School Principal to talk about Priya’s behaviour. Her father came back furiously and yelled at Priya, “I had to cancel an important meeting with my clients just to listen to this non sense. Why you have been acting weird all these days at school, tell me? Why you are not talking to others and only to yourself?”Scared at her father’s yelling, little Priya flipped her tiny little eyes and held her school bag tightly. Her father kept on yelling and Priya stood silently holding her school bag tightly. Her father got very angry and snatched her school bag and at this Priya shouted, “No papa, please leave my Pinky alone.” Her father got angry thinking Priya was talking to a bag and said, “So they were right. You were talking to yourself” and started unchaining her school bag. Little Priya screamed, “No papa please, don’t do that.” Everything inside fell out when her father shook the bag and with this, a tiny little mouse appeared. Priya’s father was taken aback and Priya caught the mouse by her tiny little hands and said, “I am so sorry Pinky.” Priya’s father felt sorry for what he did to his daughter and the little mouse. He realised that all this while, his daughter was talking to a little mouse and everyone in her school treated her as a lunatic for that. He kept a small house for the mouse inside their house. He went to Priya’s school and talked to the Principal again. He started finding more time to spend with his daughter. Priya, her father and Pinky, the mouse, all lived happily together.
Sometimes, small things matter a lot in life.
