1. Dadra Taal: In Indian Music, the Dadra Taal is the most popular and well known Taal compositions having 6 (six)Matras. It has 2 (two) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 3(three) Matras in each Bibhags. Soma in the 1st (first)Matra and Khali in the 4th (fourth)Martra of the Taal. Double times of this Taal create Khemta Taal and Ektaal having 12 (twelve) Matras. This Taal is populary use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, Ghazals, etc,. This Taal is similar with that rhythmic pattern of Menkup Taal of Nata Sankirtana of Manipur.
2. Rupak Taal: In Indian Music, the Rupak Taalis also one of the most popular Taal compositions having 7 (seven) Matras. It has 3 (three) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 3 (three) Matras in 1st (first) Bibhag and 2 Matras in remaining 2 (two) Bibhag seach. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second) & 3rd (third) Tallis in the 4th (fourth) & 6th (sixth) Matras each with no Khali of the Taal. Double times of this Taal creates Dipchandi Taal having 14 (fourteen) Matras. This Taal is also popularly use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, Ghazals, etc,. This Taal is similar with that rhythmic pattern of Teevra or Tewora Taal of Dhrupad styles.
3. Teevra or TeworaTaal: In Indian Music, the Teevra or Tewora Taalis also one of the most ancient Taal compositions having 7 (seven) Matras. It has also 3 (three) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 3 (three) Matras in 1st(first) Bibhagand 2Matrasin remaining 2 (two) Bibhags each. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second) & 3rd (third) Tallis in the 4th (fourth) & 6th (sixth) Matras each with no Khali of the Taal. Double times of this Taal creates the Dhamar Taal having 14 (fourteen) Matras. This Taal is also mainly use in Dhrupada singings of Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, etc,. This Taal is similar with that rhythmic pattern of Rupak Taal.
4. Kaharwa Taal: In Indian Music, the Kaharwa Taal is one of the most popularly known Taal compositions having 8 (eight) Matras. It has 2 (two) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 4 (four) Matras each. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra and Khali in the 5th (fifth) Martra of the Taal. Double times of this Taal creates the Tritaal having 16 (sixteen) Matras. This Taal is also popularly use in Classical Music, Devotional Music, Film Songs, etc,. This Taal is similar with that rhythmic pattern of Daspere Taal of Manipuri Manoharshai Sankirtana.
5. Thunari Taal: In Indian Music, the Thumari Taalis one of the most popularly known devotional type Taal compositions having 8 (eight) Matras. It has 2 (two) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 4 (four) Matras each. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra and Khali in the 5th (fifth) Martra of the Taal. Double times of this Taal creates the Tritaal having 16 (sixteen) Matras. This Taal is also popularly use in Classical Music, Devotional Music, Film Songs, etc,.
6. Mata Taal: In Indian Music, the Mata Taal is a Taal compositions having 9 (nine) Matras. It has 4 (four) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 2 (two) Matras in 1st (first), 2nd (second) & 3rd (third) Bibhag and 3 Matras in the last 4th (fourth) Bibhag respectively. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second) & 3rd (third) Tallis in the 3rd (third) &7th (seventh) Matra with Khali in the 5th (fifth) Martra of the Taal. This Taal is also use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, etc,.
7. Jhaptal: In Indian Music, the Jhaptal is a Taal compositions having 10 (ten) Matras. It has 4 (four) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 2 (two) Matras in 1st (first) and 3rd Bibhag and 3 Matras in 2nd and 4th Bibhags. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second) and 3rd Tallis in the 3rd (third) & 8th (eight) Matra each with Khali in the 6th Martra of the Taal. This Taal is also use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, etc,.
8. Sultal: In Indian Music, the Sultal is also a Taal compositions having 10 (ten) Matras. It has 5 (five) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 2 (two) Matras each. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second) and 3rd Tallis in the 5th (fifth) & 7th (seventh) Matra with Khali in the 3rd and 9th Martras of the Taal. This Taal is also use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, etc,.
9. Choutal: In Indian Music, the Choutal is ancient Taal compositions having 12 (twelve) Matras. It has 6 (six) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 2 (two) Matras each. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second), 3rd and 4th Tallis in the 5th (fifth), 9th & 11th (eleventh) Matra with Khali in the 3rd and 7th Martra of the Taal. This Taal is also use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, etc,.
10. Ektaal: In Indian Music, the Ektal is also a Taal compositions having 12 (twelve) Matras. It has also 6 (six) Bibhags (Divisions) made of 2 (two) Matras each. Soma in the 1st (first) Matra, 2nd (second), 3rd (third) and 4th (fourth) Tallis in the 5th (fifth), 9th (ninth) & 11th (eleventh) Matra with Khali in the 3rd (third) and 7th (seventh) Martra of the Taal. This Taal is also use in Classical Music, Light Classical Music, Folk Music, Devotional Music, Kirtana, Film Songs, etc,.
