Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses grief at the untimely demise of Silchar based journalist Pijush Kanti Das, 56, who breathed his last on the night of 27 May 2020 in a city hospital. He
was suffering from renal problems for some time. A pass-out from GC College and Assam University Silchar, Das was working with NewsLive satellite channel as its Barak valley bureau chief since 2008 till his death, prior to which he used to work for NDTv, Jugantar, Amrit Bazar, Aajkaal and a few local Bengali newspapers time to time. Das left behind his wife Santasree Shome, who reportedly donated a
kidney for transplantation to keep him alive, a daughter and other close relatives with a host of well-wishers. A popular personality in Barak valley, Das was also engaged in cultural and environmental
