Killing of Abonmai is a Wake-up call

How long the people of this state will remain silent to criminal activities of anti social element? How long will the people remain as a tool for some clique of people who always tries every means even to the cost of their lives? Are these people allergic to peace and prosperity? Are these people psychopath who are always happy seeing the tears of the common and innocent people? Is killing innocent people a way for revolutionaries who are fighting for the cause of their motherland? How could anybody in this region accept and justifies the killing of an innocent unarmed civilian who always advocates for truth and justice? In the history of armed revolutionary movement in the region particularly in the state of Manipur, we haven’t heard any other organization so barbaric as the one which has been ensuing in peace talks with the Government of India. They have mercilessly killed thousands of innocents Kukis and justice is still not delivered, this group has butchered one of the most sincere Government officers and two others and moreover, this group had given refused for so long to the heartless kidnapper and killer of Baby Lungnilla Elizabeth.
This time circumstantial evidence showed that social activist, who always stand and speak for the welfare of the Manipuri people,- Athuan Abonmai was murdered in a most inhumane manner, and even after 5 days, the government is unable to arrest none of those involved in the killing even as measures for arrest is stated to be underway.
Manipur police, on the other hand, is one of the most experienced in counter-insurgency operations. They certainly must have all details of who were the kidnappers that killed Athuan Abonmai by now. A simple example is the news report of police sent for operation at Tamenglong for operations of the culprits cordoning some area but could not proceed as they still have not received any order from higher authority.
Now the state government’s request to the NIA for the handling of this case again showed that the Manipur government is helpless when it comes to this clique of armed groups ensuing peace talk with the Government of India. They seem to be completely helpless and this time the helplessness of the state government is indirectly let known to the public.
When the government surrender, it should be the public to take the course of action. It is a wake-up call for all the people of the state. A wake call to unite all the 38 communities of the state and to fight for our rights and to keep aside those who consider common people as a tool, either as a vote bank, or supporter to extort money from the common people in the name of fighting for freedom. Real revolutionary acts with reason and in a justified way. They sacrifice their life to save their fellow people, they don’t kill innocent people.
