Prime Minister of the Country has a vision to develop the North East states of the country which have been long neglected. DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra while addressing the 6th Plenary session of the North East state at Shillong had stated that   post COVID, the North-east will emerge as a favourite tourist and trade destination. This is something that all the state government of the North East states should note.

The other thing that the DoNER Minister had state was that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of developing the North-eastern region and bringing it to the level of the other developed States.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ interest for the North Eastern states of the country has been known from his various initiatives. And the statement relay through the DONER Minister should opt as a golden chance that every state should take.

It is at this point that government of every NE states need to ponder upon and should not delay in framing policy programme for attracting the tourist. As without the effort and commitment of the state government, it will not be possible to convert the NE states into what that prime Minister had wanted to.

Manipur have the potential of attracting tourist. Leaving aside the culture and tradition along with the beautiful landscape, the state is a battle field of the World war II. This is also the place where thousands of British soldiers as well as the Japanese soldiers had died. This is also the place where many battle were fought. As of now no war field has been officially declared by the state government and preserves as historical sites.

Vietnam, Cambodia and other South East Asian countries all preserved the war field and tourists from across the world flooded to see the war field.

Besides other War Tourism- a neglected part for promotion of Tourism should be taken up as priority by the Government of Manipur.

The Prime Minister has showed his interest, the DONER Minister is all set to make this region as the tourist hot spot. Now it is left to the state government on what to prepare to make sure that Modi’s promises come into reality.
