Congress existence felt, but will it survive?

After a long slumber or say staying away from the peoples’ cause beside being the main opposition party in the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Congress party finally makes sound yesterday for one good cause. The opposition leaders and the legislatures as well as the newly inducted president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Govindas Konthoujam was seen on the street protesting for the farmer’s cause.
After the congress party failed to form government besides having its number here in the state of Manipur in the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly, and the downfall of the same across the nation even by not having the number to elect the opposition leaders at the Parliament, the last three years saw an idle opposition party in the state. This is being stated as no tough voice has been hard from this party to any issue related to the state. The party has become too weak in the state that they remain a mute spectator to peoples’ issue and even failed to go along with the people, particularly with the civil society organization of the state.
During this term the state witness changes of the MPCC president twice. From CWC member Gaikhangam, the post of the MPCC president has been appointed to Ex-MLA M. Okendro and recently Govindas Konthoujam , the undisputed representative from Bishenpur Assembly constituency for around 5 times consecutively, replaced M. Okendro as the President of the MPCC. The survival of any party is depended to its leader, the more the leader acts, the more the popularity rise.
Yesterday, the state show the party active once more, not matter the protest is related with the state issue or not , the existence of the party has been once more notice. After all State Assembly Election is also just around 2 years to go.
Now the question to the mind of every Manipuri is that, will the Congress party be able to get the mandate of the people in the next general assembly election. All knows that those in the party who are legislatures in the state Assembly are all potential candidates of winning the election. But then, fate of Manipur’s politics is always dependent to the politics at Centre. The BJP and other Regional party as well as those political party that are going hands in hands with the BJP now is overshadowing the Congress party at almost all states of the country.
Well, whether the congress party succeed in returning to their previous status in the political spectrum or not, their rise is a good sign to revive the endanger democracy in the state.
In war both don’t win but one side win similarly in the battle for power one among the two – congress or the BJP led party will have the peoples’ mandate. So it is still good seeing the rise of congress party – for we don’t want to watch a football game where a team won on walk-over.
