Election fever in Hiyanglam Assembly constituency by-election has reached its peak with only 4 days left to go for poll. This election is significant for the Congress and the BJP as well as Trinamool Congress. Reason – the defeat could mean serious blow to the status of each political party. Everyone knows that the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had proved its credential by getting absolute majority in the last lok Sabha Election. Even as none of the parliamentary seats in the state were won by the BJP, the party is trying to strengthen its existence in the state. On the other hand the congress party too have absolute majority in the state Assembly. Both the seats of the parliamentary constituencies were on by the congress party. Similarly, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) too consider important of wining the seat as this was the seat where the party had won in last Assembly election. It is worth mentioning that the by-election is being held after the demised of Maibam Kunjo Singh who had won the Hiyanglam Assembly seat in last election in AITC ticket. For the reason the state BJP unit is trying all its effort to win the seat. Even Union Home Minister for state Kiran Rijiji had landed in the constituency to woo the voters of the constituency for their candidate. It was only yesterday that two MPs of the AITC also arrived in the state and joined the campaign for the AITC candidate. As for the congress party the Chief Minister and the Home Minister along with its cabinet colleagues and MLAs are putting all its labour to win this seat.Altogether, 5 candidates are in the fray for this election. The MSCP and MPP too had filed its candidates. If the BJP loss its seat in the by-poll, there is reason to believe that the party will have no place in the state even though it is gaining momentum in the rest of the country. If the congress loosed then surely it will prove the falls of the party. And if the AITC loss than it definitely proves that party politics have nothing to do in the state o Manipur. It definitely will prove that it was M Kunjo that had won the seat in last assembly election and not AITC.
