Imphal, April 18:
All is set for the voting of the 1st phase Lok Sabha Election scheduled tomorrow in 47 assembly constituencies in both Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituencies. While voting for the 32 assembly constituencies that come under the Inner Manipur PC will be completed in the 1st Phase, voting will be held in 15 assembly constituencies in the Outer Manipur PC. Voting for the remaining 13 Assembly constituencies of the Outer PC will be held in the second phase voting scheduled on April 26. Voting across the country will be held in 7 phases starting tomorrow. Voting will start from 7 am and concluded at 4 pm for the first phase in Manipur.
Altogether, 6 candidates are in the fray in the Inner Manipur PC, while 4 candidates are contesting in the Outer Manipur PC. The Total Electorate in the Inner PC is 937,464, while the number of voters in the Outer Manipur PC is 1,022,099. Voting will be conducted in 2955 polling station in both Inner and Outer Manipur PC. In addition to this Polling station 94 more Special Polling Stations have been established by the ECI for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in view of the ongoing crisis in the state of Manipur. Of this 29 are in Inner Manipur PC while 65 are in the Outer Manipur PC.
According to the information released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the first phase election will be held in 21 states across the country for 102 seats. In the phase 2 election, voting will be held in 13 states to cover 89 seats.
With the voting for 1st phase just one day left polling personnel including security forces have reached to their respective Polling Station.
Kakching District:
District Election Office Kakching district is all set to conduct a free and fair election. Kakching district comprises four Assembly constituencies Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnoo with a total of 1,17,576 voters. Polling officials and security personnel were dispatched to their respective polling stations today morning. Polling officials collected EVMs and other election equipments from six counters set up for the four Assembly constituencies and two for Special Polling Stations at the Public Ground, Thoubal today.
The strong room for storing EVMs at Thoubal DC complex was opened earlier in the presence of Rohit Anand IAS, DEO/DC Kakching District, M Kapajit, ADM Kakching District, AROs, Nodal Officers, and political party representatives.
Altogether 143 Polling stations has been set up in the four Assembly constituencies in Kakching district. 5 Special polling stations have been assigned for IDPs staying in various Relief camps (2 for Inner and 3 for Outer). The special polling stations are also identified for eligible electors not staying in Relief Camps but otherwise staying with relatives/friends within the jurisdiction of Kakching district.
Imphal West District:
Polling personnel in respect of Imphal West district, who are deployed for 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (1-IMPC) election, were dispersed today from the District Election Office, Imphal West to their respective polling stations. All the 13 (thirteen) Assembly Constituencies (ACs) within Imphal West District will join the rest of the ACs falling under 1-IMPC in the Phase-I Poll.
District Election Officer, Imphal West, Th. Kirankumar and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) monitored the dispersal and ensured all the polling personnel reached their designated polling stations safely.
There is a total of 1,319 Polling Stations in 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (1-IMPC). In addition, there are 29 Special Polling Stations in 1-IMPC for Internally Displaced People (IDPs). In Imphal West district alone, there are 145 women manned Polling Stations and 13 Model Polling Stations. The District Election Office, Imphal West has also identified 70 (seventy) numbers of Vulnerable and Critical Polling Stations and have made special security arrangements – such as deployment of micro-observers and multiple security layers in addition to the normal security measures.
Imphal East District:
Polling personnel 10 Assembly Segments of Imphal East District, an integral part of 1- Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency, was dispersed today. Altogether there are 1782 polling officials for 441 polling stations in the 10 Assembly Segments of Imphal East district including Nine Special Polling Stations. Number of Internally Displaced Person (IDP) 1- IMPC inner are 999 and 728 for 2- Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituencies. There are 58 vulnerable Polling Stations and 67 critical Polling Stations in the district. Ahead of the dispersal of the Polling Team the strong room located at 2nd floor of SIRD, DC Office Complex was opened from 7 a.m. onwards for dispersal of EVMs and VVPATs in the presence of AROs, Nodal Officers and representatives of various political parties.
Thoubal District:
Polling parties, Polling Security Personnel and officers/officials/staff involved in the conduct of the election were dispatched to their respective polling stations/booths today from the Dispatch Centre at Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School.
A Subhash Singh, IAS, DC/District Election Officer, Thoubal along with election officials oversaw the arrangements at the dispatch centre for smooth disbursal of polling personnel to their respective polling stations. For the district, a total of 248 (two hundred and forty eight) polling stations have been set up, 123 (one hundred and twenty three) numbers of polling stations for Inner Parliamentary Constituency and 125 (one hundred and twenty five) numbers of polling stations for Outer Parliamentary Constituency. Additionally, 2 (two) special polling station for Internally Displaced voters staying in relief camps or otherwise (friends/relatives) have been set up. Special Polling station at Rice Research Station for voters of 1- Inner Manipur (Gen) Parliamentary Constituency and Special Polling station at Y.K College for voters of 2- Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency will enable Internally Displaced voters to cast their votes.
Bishnupur District:
District Election Officer, DEO Bishnupur Lourembam Bikram flagged off polling officials and security personnel for poll duty in respect of 6 Assembly Constituencies of Bishnupur district today. The poll personnel along with the EVMs/VVPATs and other polling materials to be utilized for polling were escorted in over 350 vehicles from the dispersal center in the Mini Secretariat complex to their respective polling stations by armed security personnel.
The strong rooms of all the six assembly constituencies and special polling stations falling under the district were opened today morning for taking out of EVMs and VVPATs. Mention may be made that the total number of electors in the district as per the final special summary revision 2024 is 1,83,472 (89,209 male, 94,220 female, and 43 transgender). There will be 256 polling stations including 22 special polling stations in the district. The total number of polling personnel deployed on election duty is 1332 including 30 percent reserved, while the total number of security personnel deployed is 2086, including armed and unarmed personnel.
