NTST sought comments from state govt. over CCpur firing case

Imphal, May 11: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has sought comments from the Manipur Government over the death of 9 protestors against the passing of ILPS related Bills in state Assembly at Churachandpur. A PIB released stated that the matter has been taken up the case after Manipur Tribal’s Forum, Delhi complaint the matter to the Commission on November 11, 2015. Quoting the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava written reply in Rajya Sabha, the PIB released said that the Tribal Affairs Hills and SC Development Department, Government of Manipur has informed that Magisterial Inquiry had been ordered by State Home Department. The Inquiry Officer has reported that the local people and Joint Action Committee did not allow him to conduct the Magisterial Inquiry. It was further reported that the State Government was trying hard to bring normalcy in the area by negotiating with the local people.
