The NSCN-IM has issued a notification directing transporters, dealers, distributors, suppliers and business establishments operating on three National Highways leading to Imphal to coordinate with a designated authority and extend what it described as “full cooperation”.
The notification, issued in the name of John Francis Kashung, Political Organiser of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, covers NH-2 (Imphal–Mao–Dimapur), NH-37 (Imphal–Jiribam) and NH-102 (Imphal–Moreh).
It stated that the directive applies to companies engaged in trade and commerce, local dealerships and other enterprises involved in the movement of goods and essential commodities through the three highways.
Those concerned have been directed to maintain coordination and communication through an official WhatsApp number mentioned in the notification.
The NSCN-IM said the directive was intended to ensure what it termed the “smooth and orderly movement” of goods and essential commodities along the National Highways entering Imphal and warned the concerned parties to take the notification seriously.
The notification does not specify the nature of the cooperation sought or identify the designated authority to whom the transporters and businesses are expected to report, but provides the WhatsApp contact number 9769337644 for communication.
The directive comes amid continued sensitivity surrounding the movement of commercial vehicles and essential commodities on the highways connecting Imphal with Nagaland, Jiribam and Moreh.
