RAF, CoBRA deployed in Noney amid UNC economic blockade

Security forces, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and CoBRA, have been deployed at strategic and vulnerable locations across Noney district following the United Naga Council (UNC)’s indefinite economic blockade along National Highway-37.

Security has been tightened along the highway, with reinforcements deployed and heightened surveillance maintained amid disruptions to the movement of vehicles.

The UNC launched the blockade from 1 am on September 9, demanding justice and accountability over the killing and alleged mutilation and dismemberment of six Liangmai Naga men on May 13.

The blockade has disrupted movement along the Imphal-Jiribam route, raising concerns over the movement of essential supplies.

The UNC has exempted vehicles carrying essential services, including medical supplies, media personnel, power, water and telecommunications, from the blockade.
