Manipur Youth Assembly 2026 was held today at the Senate Hall of the Department of Earth Science, Manipur University, where participants debated and passed four significant bills concerning the state’s political and administrative future.
The assembly was jointly organised by the Manipur People’s Movement (Manipur Meeyamgi Eehou – MAMEE) in collaboration with the Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU).
The programme was inaugurated by senior citizen Khaidem Mani, a senior advocate and former Chairperson of the Manipur Human Rights Commission. Advocate Thangjam Jiban presided over the session as the Speaker of the House.
Following parliamentary procedures, the treasury bench introduced four bills for discussion: the Manipur Regional Political Aspiration Unification Bill, the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Amendment) Bill, the Delimitation Bill, and the Manipur Ethnic Bifurcation Rejection and Integrity Bill, 2026.
Members of the Youth Assembly deliberated extensively on the proposed legislation, with participants presenting arguments and viewpoints in a manner reflecting parliamentary proceedings. The House maintained parliamentary decorum throughout the session before adopting all four bills after detailed discussions.
The organisers said the Youth Assembly was intended to provide a democratic platform for young people to engage with critical issues affecting Manipur while promoting informed debate, constitutional values, and participatory governance.
