The Official Language Cell of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised a Hindi workshop on the theme “Official Hindi and Standardization of Hindi Spelling” at Banting Hall, RIMS, on Tuesday.
The workshop was inaugurated by RIMS Director Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, who attended the programme as the chief guest. Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital Prof. N. Sanjib Singh and Dr. Sinam Tondon Singh, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Department of Hindi, Dhanamanjuri College of Arts, Dhanamanjuri University, were present as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sharma spoke on the importance of promoting the use of Official Hindi in government institutions and stressed the need for maintaining uniformity and accuracy in Hindi spelling to ensure effective official communication.
The guests of honour also highlighted the significance of standardising Hindi spelling and encouraged participants to strengthen their proficiency in the language for official and administrative purposes.
The workshop witnessed the participation of faculty members, officers and staff of RIMS. Resource persons deliberated on various aspects of Official Hindi, the implementation of the Official Language Policy, and the adoption of standardised Hindi spelling in official correspondence and documentation.
