7 victims of Leilon Vaiphei abduction incident discharged from JNIMS

Seven of the 14 survivors undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) following the alleged brutal kidnapping incident at Leilon Vaiphei have been discharged from the hospital, while the remaining seven continue to receive medical care.

According to a statement issued by Thoidingjam Bon Khurai, Chairman of the Relief Committee at JNIMS Hospital, the victims were admitted to the Department of Psychiatry on June 18 after exhibiting severe psychological trauma following the incident. After showing satisfactory improvement in their condition, seven of the patients were discharged and have since returned to the Makhan Relief Camp, where they are currently staying.

The remaining seven victims continue to undergo treatment and counselling under the care of the Department of Psychiatry.

The Relief Committee expressed its appreciation to the doctors and medical staff of the Department of Psychiatry, the JNIMS authorities, civil society organisations and all individuals who extended support and assistance during the treatment and rehabilitation of the victims.

The committee acknowledged that the coordinated efforts of medical professionals and well-wishers had played a significant role in providing psychological care and support to the survivors as they recover from the traumatic ordeal.
