The Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur, observed the 146th birth anniversary of Helen Adams Keller at its office premises at Haorang Keirel Warok Shabal on Saturday.
The programme was attended by President P. Gopendro Singh, Chief Functionary M. Premier, staff members and unit volunteers. The observance began with the offering of floral tributes before the portrait of Helen Keller in recognition of her life, achievements and enduring legacy as a global advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities.
Speaking on the occasion, P. Gopendro Singh and M. Premier highlighted Helen Keller’s message of courage, perseverance, inclusion and equal opportunity. They called for continued efforts towards building an inclusive society where persons with disabilities can live with dignity, independence and equal participation.
The programme concluded with participants taking a collective pledge to strengthen disability rights, promote community awareness and support inclusive development in Manipur.
The event was organised with the support of the National Foundation for India (NFI) under its Community Empowerment Initiative.
