The launch ceremony of the Manipuri feature film “Torei 2: Nang Nabuk Phatte” was held today at the auditorium of HIHH Restaurant & Resort near Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroisemba.
The film is being produced by Devita Urik Aheibam under the banner of Ibudhou Thangjing Film Production and directed by Khwairakpam Bishwamittra.
Eminent actor and director Loitongbam Dorendro Singh attended the programme as chief guest, while Taorem Pritam, Deputy Commissioner, K.V. Sangathan, Tinsukia Region, presided over the function. Actress R.K. Hemabati attended as guest of honour.
Speaking at the event, director Khwairakpam Bishwamittra said the sequel is being produced nearly 20 years after the release of the widely acclaimed film TOREI in 2006. He informed that 60 per cent of the film will be shot in Tinsukia, Assam, and the remaining portions in Manipur.
Producer Devita Urik Aheibam said the sequel was inspired by the love and support received by the original film and appealed to audiences to extend similar support to TOREI 2.
Loitongbam Dorendro Singh lauded the dedication of producers and artistes in sustaining the Manipuri film industry despite various challenges, while R.K. Hemabati expressed confidence that the film would be well received by audiences.
The film will feature several established artistes including Devita, Binata, Kaiku, Bonny, along with a number of new actors.
