Film Forum Manipur carried out a social service programme at Kekrupat as part of preparations for the upcoming observance of The Great Uprising & Unity Day on June 18 organised by United Committee Manipur (UCM), and All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO).
The cleanliness drive, titled “Lam Tu Sit Sengba”, was attended by office bearers and members from 12 guilds and associations under Film Forum Manipur, along with several artists and film personalities from across the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Interim Chairman N. Surjitkumar said the programme was organised to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the historic June 18, 2001 movement to safeguard Manipur’s territorial integrity. He called upon the people to remain united and work collectively to safeguard the state’s territorial integrity and identity.
K. Ronelchandra, Film Forum Secretary stated that the organisation has been carrying out social service activities annually in connection with the observance of June 18, and that this year’s programme was held in continuation of the tradition.
Narendra Ningomba, senior actor and cultural activist said artists are social reformers who have a responsibility to contribute positively to society. He noted that initiatives such as the cleanliness drive help instil the values of patriotism and social responsibility among the younger generation.
Also present were Vice Chairman-2 Ksh. Kishworkumar, former Chairman S. Mangoljao, senior actor Ningthoujam Joyvidiya, filmmaker Romi Meitei and actor-singer Sadananda Hamom.
