Kamjong attack “External Aggression”, says MLA Leishiyo Keishing

Phungyar Assembly Constituency MLA Leishiyo Keishing has described the attack on border villages in Kamjong district as an act of “external aggression” and alleged that two civilians — a Tangkhul man and a Meitei woman — were allegedly abducted by suspected PDF militants during the assault.
Speaking on the attack targeting Namlee village, Wanglee village, and Choro village, the MLA alleged that militants belonging to the suspected Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and People’s Defence Force (PDF) carried out coordinated attacks in the border region early Thursday morning.
“Today’s attack on Namlee, Wanglee, and Choro villages by suspected KNA (B) and PDF militants was an act of external aggression,” the MLA stated.
He further alleged that during the violence, one Tangkhul man and one Meitei woman were forcibly abducted by PDF militants. Their identities and whereabouts, however, remain unknown at the time of filing this report.
Leishiyo Keishing also claimed that the attackers targeted relief camps established for civilians displaced by the ongoing ethnic conflict and security crisis in the region. The allegation has intensified concerns over the worsening humanitarian situation in the sensitive Indo-Myanmar border areas.
Raising serious questions over the security preparedness in the region, the MLA alleged that there was virtually no effective police presence in the vulnerable border villages.
Referring to the police station located at Namlee, he stated that although security personnel were stationed there, they lacked adequate weapons and logistical support to respond effectively to heavily armed militant attacks.
According to the MLA, the inadequacy of arms and resources rendered the local police unable to take meaningful action during the assault, forcing civilians to flee for safety as attacks unfolded across the villages.
