COCOMI Convenor alleges attempts to sabotage people’s movement

Convenor of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), YK Dhiren, today alleged that certain individuals are deliberately attempting to sabotage the ongoing people’s democratic movement in the state.
Speaking to reporters at the COCOMI office in Lamphel, Dhiren said the rally held earlier in the day was organised as announced, with the objective of submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister posing seven key questions. He stated that people from across the state participated in large numbers and gathered to raise their concerns.
Dhiren said that a COCOMI delegation successfully submitted the memorandum at the Chief Minister’s office, and the development was subsequently communicated to the gathering through a public address system, following which the rally concluded. He however, said that the COCOMI will never talk with the government until they responded to the questions.
Refuting allegations that COCOMI representatives had withdrawn from the rally midway, he termed such claims as false and misleading. He alleged that certain groups were spreading rumours with the intent to defame the organisation and undermine the movement led by COCOMI.
He further claimed that one member of the organisation was assaulted by some individuals during the course of the rally.
Appealing to the public to remain vigilant, Dhiren urged people not to be influenced by what he described as anti-people elements. He asserted that COCOMI would identify those involved in spreading misinformation and attempting to disrupt the movement.
