MMAB urges centre’s intervention over Tronglaobi attack

The Manipuri Meitei Association, Bangalore (MMAB) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, condemning the April 7 bomb attack at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district and seeking urgent intervention.
The association stated that the attack killed a five-month-old infant and a five-year-old child, while their mother remains critically injured. The victims belonged to the family of a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
MMAB alleged that the incident reflects a continuing pattern of violence in the state and expressed concern over the safety of civilians in vulnerable areas. It also raised allegations regarding reported firing by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel during subsequent protests, which allegedly led to the deaths of three civilians and injuries to others, calling for an independent inquiry.
In its memorandum, MMAB urged the Centre to conduct a time-bound investigation, restore law and order, ensure accountability in the security setup, and initiate disarmament of illegal armed groups. It further called for enhanced protection of civilians and swift measures to restore peace and public confidence.
