RUCO warns of blockade over neglected Lamsang–Khurkhul road

Rural United Club Organization (RUCO), Lamsang, convened a press meet at the Manipur Press Club, about the deplorable condition of the 5 kilometre road stretch connecting Lamsang and Khurkhul.
Addressing media persons, RUCO representatives stated that the Manipur Government has allegedly failed to maintain the road for a prolonged period, resulting in severe deterioration. They pointed out that heavy vehicles transporting construction materials for the ongoing works at the National Sports University frequently ply along the route, accelerating the damage.
According to the organisation, the present condition of the road has caused inconvenience to daily commuters and residents of the area. They further claimed that the damaged stretch, particularly the portion falling in Lamsang AC and Sekmai AC, has become prone to frequent road accidents, posing risks to pedestrians and motorists alike.
RUCO appealed to the State Government and the Chief Minister to undertake immediate development and repair of the road, setting a deadline between March 20 and March 25 for necessary action. The organisation warned that failure to address the issue within the stipulated timeframe would compel RUCO, comprising 42 affiliated clubs, to impose a road blockade along the affected stretch.
