Officials inspect jacquard weaving training programme

Officials from the Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative Society Ltd. and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development inspected the ongoing thirty day Jacquard Weaving training programme at the Common Facility Centre in Hiyangthang.
The training programme, being conducted from January 12 to February 11, 2025, is organized by the Manipur Apex Handloom and Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative Society Ltd. with support from the one zero nine Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force under its Civic Action Programme. The initiative aims to enhance technical skills and improve livelihood opportunities for local weavers.
Although fifty weavers had expressed interest in the programme, thirty participants were selected based on eligibility and training requirements. The selected weavers are undergoing intensive hands-on training in Jacquard weaving techniques, focusing on design, precision and quality improvement to meet evolving market demands.
During the inspection, the officials reviewed the progress of the training and interacted with the trainees to assess the effectiveness of the programme. They also examined the facilities and training modules being provided at the centre.
Among those present during the inspection were Tara Devi Yadav, Second-in-Command, and N. Gomti Chanu, Deputy Commandant, along with Inspector Th. Rajamani. The Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative Society Ltd. was represented by its Managing Director Th. Rajamani. Officials from NABARD included General Manager Pratha Mandal, while L. Ojit Singh, Business Manager of AWAS, was also present.
