Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), the civilian representative body of the Thadou community, has clarified its independent status and rejected any claims linking it to the apex body of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM). The statement comes amid ongoing tensions in Manipur’s hill areas and follows a joint press release issued by the United Naga Council (UNC) and KIM on January 27, 2026.
In its press statement, TIM emphasized that it does not represent, align with, or act on behalf of any armed group, political organization, or military bloc. It further stated that it is not a constituent member of KIM at any level, and no mandate has been given for such inclusion.
TIM reiterated that the Thadou people are a distinct community and are not part of ongoing ethnic conflicts. The organization called for accurate representation of its identity, noting that portraying the Thadou as Kuki misrepresents their position and goes against their aspirations.
Rejecting all forms of violence—including armed mobilization, intimidation, vandalism, arson, and road blockades—TIM underlined that its primary concern remains the protection of civilian life, dignity, and freedom of movement. The body urged all parties to respect civilian spaces and uphold humanitarian principles.
While asserting its neutrality, Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) expressed support for peace and dialogue, highlighting its openness to constructive discussions on civilian welfare, provided these respect the distinct identity of the Thadou community and are based on mutual consent.
