The Office of the Superintendent of Police, Traffic Control Police Wing, Manipur, has issued traffic regulations for the smooth conduct of the 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, and the full dress rehearsal scheduled on January 24, 2026, at Kangla.
According to the notification, the traffic regulations will remain in force from 6.30 am on both January 24 and January 26, 2026, until the conclusion of the functions. The measures have been put in place in the interest of public safety and convenience.
As per the arrangement, entry and exit for authorised persons will be through the southern gate of Kangla, with parking facilities provided at the Kangla helipad. The general public will be allowed entry on foot through the western gate of Kangla, while parking for the public has been designated along the roadside stretch between Johnstone School and ER Park.
The Traffic Police stated that heavy vehicles coming from Lilong side towards Singjamei will be diverted towards Pisumthong, while other public vehicles heading towards Moirangkhom will be diverted towards Keishamthong Bridge. Vehicles coming from Mayang Imphal Road towards Keishampat Junction will be diverted either towards Tiddim Line or Wahengbam Leikai. Vehicles approaching from Koirengei towards Khongnang Ani Karak will be diverted either to Dingku Road or Assembly Road.
It was further stated that vehicles coming from Imphal East towards Sanjenthong and Minuthong will be diverted via Lomlong Bridge, Loklaobung, Thumbuthong and Singjamei Bridge. Vehicles from Uripok Kangchup Road heading towards Flyover Bridge and BT Road will be diverted towards Nagamapal. Vehicles from New Cachar Road will be diverted either towards Nagamapal or Keishampat, while those coming from Tiddim Road towards Keishampat Junction will be diverted either towards Wahengbam Leikai or Mayang Imphal Road.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Khoyathong towards LIC Crossing will be diverted towards Nagamapal, and vehicles from Khuman Lampak and MMTA heading towards North AOC Crossing will be diverted at MMTA Crossing towards Minuthong.
The police clarified that the restrictions will not apply to vehicles of authorised persons attending the function and emergency service vehicles. The general public has been requested to plan their journeys in advance on these days and to cooperate with traffic personnel on duty to avoid inconvenience and traffic congestion.
