CEO Manipur to participate in International conference on Democracy and Election Management

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, on Thursday held a press conference at its Conference Hall in Imphal West to share key developments related to democracy and electoral management.
Addressing the media, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, Lokeshor Brahmacharimayum, MCS, informed that a team from Manipur, led by the Chief Electoral Officer along with three subject experts, will participate in the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management to be held in New Delhi from January 21 to January 23, 2026.
The conference will bring together representatives from all 36 States and Union Territories, with India chairing the initiative as part of its Chairship of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) under the mandate of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
He further stated that the CEO, Manipur, has constituted a dedicated thematic group to carry out research and preparatory work on the theme allotted to the State by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi.
Three scholars from Manipur— Dr. Md. Farijudin Khan, Assistant Professor, Dhanamanjuri University; Ng. Chinthoibi Chanu, Research Scholar, Manipur University; and Tim Haobam, Standing Counsel, Manipur High Court—have been selected to represent the State and make a presentation on a given theme i.etheme for its presentation ‘Ease of Political participation in voter registration’
The event, led by the ECI with institutional support from IIIDEM, aims to provide strategic interventions at a time when democracies worldwide are facing challenges such as disinformation, complex legal frameworks, and rapid digital and AI-driven transformations.
