Representatives of the Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur, called on the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, and briefed him on the State’s recent achievement at the national level.
The delegation informed the Governor that Manipur emerged as the overall team champion at the 31st Sub-Junior & Senior National Thang-Ta Championship 2025 held recently in Goa. The Governor congratulated the athletes, coaches and officials of the Association, praising their dedication, discipline and contribution to bringing laurels to the State.
During the interaction, the members highlighted the need to further promote Thang-Ta, Manipur’s traditional martial art, across the country. They noted that Thang-Ta players from Manipur have consistently excelled at national competitions, earning medals and enhancing the State’s sporting reputation.
The delegation also discussed measures to expand participation and strengthen competitive standards, including the possibility of a Governor-led initiative to encourage the discipline. They appealed for the inclusion of Thang-Ta in the National Games, citing its cultural importance and increasing popularity.
The Governor assured the delegation that their proposals would be considered and taken up through appropriate channels.
