In observance of World Sight Day 2025, the Lions Club of Imphal Valley, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Imphal Valley NextGen and the Lions Club of Imphal North, organised a Cataract Detection and Vision Screening Camp under the theme “Love Your Eyes” on Wednesday at Gurudwara, Thangal Bazar.
The camp, held from 9:30 a.m. onwards, aimed to promote eye health awareness and provide early detection services to students, teachers, parents of Gurudwara Public School, and the general public.
The event was graced by Lion Prof. N. Romi Singh, District GMT Coordinator; Lion W. Tijendra Singh, DC (Vision), District 322D, Lions International; Lion Jugpreet Singh, President, Lions Club of Imphal Valley; Lion Saket Bagdaa, President, Lions Club of Imphal Valley NextGen; and Lion Waikhom Bimola Devi, President, Lions Club of Imphal North. Members of the three clubs actively participated in extending logistical and organisational support to ensure the successful conduct of the camp.
Around 70 individuals were screened during the camp, with several cases of visual impairment and cataract identified. The organisers announced that surgical correction and necessary medical support will be arranged for the beneficiaries through the Lions Clubs.
The initiative was carried out in association with the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur, and the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, reflecting a collaborative effort to enhance community eye care and promote preventive measures against avoidable blindness.
