RSS leads by example, not preaching: Bharat Bhushan

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sah-Sampark Pramukh Bharat Bhushan has urged the academic and student community in Manipur to adopt a Swadeshi lifestyle and take pride in India’s cultural and historical heritage.
Speaking at a special lecture on “100 Years Journey of RSS and the Road Map Ahead” held at Manipur University’s Court Hall, Bharat Bhushan said, “The RSS does not preach to others; it leads by example through its own actions.” The event was jointly organised by the College Development Council, Manipur University; Seva Bharati Purbanchal; Seva Bharati Manipur; Manipur Seva Samiti; and the Intellectual Forum of North East–Manipur.
Highlighting the organisation’s centenary goals, he said the RSS focuses on five pillars for national transformation—Samajik Samarasta (social harmony), Kutumb Prabodhan (family awakening), Paryavaran (environmental awareness), Swa (selfhood and Swadeshi), and Nagrik Kartavya (civic duty).
Calling for unity, he said, “We are all one—how can we discriminate on caste, creed, geography, or religion?” On environmental issues, he lamented society’s neglect of nature and urged everyone to plant at least one tree a year and avoid single-use plastics.
He added that India’s enduring civilisation is rooted in its strong family system, now weakened by modern distractions. “We must disconnect from our phones to reconnect with our families,” he advised.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Naorem Lokendra Singh also called on students to rediscover and utilise India’s vast indigenous resources for self-reliance and nation-building.
