Review meeting on rising dengue cases held

In view of the rising number of Dengue cases in the State, a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sumant Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Governor of Manipur, on 6th October at the NHM Conference Hall. The meeting reviewed the monthly incidence of Dengue cases in comparison with figures from the previous year.
Acknowledging that source reduction is the most effective method to prevent Dengue transmission, the Chair urged intensified source reduction efforts, emphasizing active participation from families and community members in affected areas.
Following this, a follow-up meeting was convened in the Chamber of the Director of Health Services, Manipur, with representatives of local clubs from Imphal urban areas. The Director appealed for the active involvement of local club volunteers, who will be trained in hands-on source reduction techniques by the State Urban Health Teams.
With immediate effect, local club members, ASHAs, staff of Urban Health facilities, and State Urban Teams will jointly undertake intensive source reduction drives within their respective areas to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and curb the spread of Dengue in the community.
