PRO (DEFENCE)
Giving reaction on news published in some local dailies about work of BROs, Commander 765 BRTF (GREF) informed that many bridges existing presently in Manipur are of ‘Bailey bridges’ type which are of load classification 24 tons. Despite issuing of notification by Manipur Govt on restriction of load to 24 tons, loaded trucks of around 50 tons weight are plying on the road thereby creating problem. The solution is creation of permanent bridges but it can be done only after appropriate sanction by MoRTH. The commander 765 BRTF (GREF) also made appeal to all concerned for help so that common people are not troubled. He also mentioned the fact that despite all the inherent difficulties, NH-37 in Manipur has been developed in last 6 years, on a fast pace, thereby reducing travelling time from Imphal to Jiribam to 7 hours from the earlier 12 hours. Presently only 22 Km stretch out of 217 Km is bad and efforts are on to develop that soon. The BRO is a pioneer agency involved in the development of infrastructure and will leave no stone unturned in the effort to carry out the work of maintenance and development.
